Bios:
Christoph Silber
Born and raised in a German-English theater and arts background, Chris kept busy during his teens as an actor, cartoonist and music journalist. In the early 90's he studied American and French history and literature and translated American novels and screenplays for German publishers, including works by Quentin Tarantino, Joe R. Lansdale and James Cameron. 1996 marked his debut as a playwright at the Vienna Burgtheater with an adaptation of Puccini's TOSCA.
Considered one of the leading German screenwriters, Chris has written and co-written several feature films, including GOOD BYE LENIN, NORTHFACE and ARRANGED. His work for television spans sitcom headwriting, BBC docudrama and critically acclaimed episodes for Germany's leading featurelength crime series TATORT. He has held workshops on writing and visual storytelling and is a member of the German Film Academy. His directing debut, the short ICEWIND, screened at several international festivals. Chris and his family plit their time between New York City and the Tennessee Valley.
Stefan Schaefer
A founder of the New York-based production company Cicala Filmworks, Stefan has worked in independent film for over 13 years. His films have premiered and won awards at festivals such as Berlin, South by Southwest, Rotterdam and the Hamptons, and have been successfully released theatrically, via cable outfits such as HBO and the Sundance Channel, and on DVD. In the past five years he has written, directed and/or produced six feature films, among them Michael Imperioli's debut THE HUNGRY GHOSTS (2009), Olaf Johannesson's THE AMAZING TRUTH ABOUT QUEEN RAQUELA (2008) and ARRANGED (2007).
Recent awards include: Grand Prize for Best Feature Film at the 2008 Skip City Int'l Film Festival in Japan, the TEDDY Award for Best Feature Film at the 2008 Berlin Int'l Film Festival, Best Film at the 2007 Brooklyn Int'l Film Festival, Best Screenwriter at the 2005 Hamptons Film Festival, and the New York State Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Screenwriting.
Stefan was born in Boston, spent his childhood in Sussex, England and his adolescent years in Detroit and New York. He studied political theory and theatre at Wesleyan University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. Prior to founding Cicala Filmworks with Diane Crespo, he studied as a Fulbright Scholar in Germany and worked as a journalist.
